Kings Ridge Home Owners Association

The City of Plano Crime Prevention Unit produces videos that involve a variety of topics to help citizens learn about ways they can protect their personal property and themselves.

More than 100 “Safety Minutes” (some videos are longer) are on the Crime Prevention Unit’s YouTube page, and they seek to help neighbors be proactive in their efforts to thwart crime before it happens – something that Kings Ridge has showcased heavily over the years as host of the city’s largest National Night Out program 10 years in a row.

Neighbors are encouraged to bookmark the Crime Prevention Unit YouTube page, a subset of the City of Plano YouTube page, and view it for regular updates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maWumpIQklo&list=PLGbwNR_-QmDMu1u1s8i1fwor1HjwfbJ-e (insert link into your browser)

A 30-minute instructional podcast, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_6ak3gNEfM&list=PLGbwNR_-QmDMu1u1s8i1fwor1HjwfbJ-e&index=3 (insert link into your browswer), an extension of the videos, is currently available and features outgoing head of the Unit, Officer Mark Dawson. At the 10-minute mark, Officer Dawson talks about personal and property safety.

An additional 30-minute video involving Officer Dawson is being developed and will focus solely on home protection, according to Office Bianez.

As Officer Dawson retires after his storied 40-year law enforcement career, Officer Bianez will head up the Plano Police Crime Prevention Unit. Both officers are very familiar with Kings Ridge and Officer Bianez has offered his support to meet with neighbors at a future meeting to discuss crime prevention.

MORE HOA BLOCK CAPTAINS SOUGHT
Not all 46 Kings Ridge streets currently have established block captains. These Kings Ridge streets are in need of a neighbor to serve as a volunteer block captain:
• Cabbott
• Kildare
• Medallion
• Prichard
• Redstone
• Round Springs
• Shadow Rock
• Underwood

Block captains are points of contact on each street to interact with Block Captain coordinator Stephanie Davis, the Safety Committee chaired by Paul Nolte, and help serve as a point-of-contact for their street, often helping to share news and information to fellow neighbors in conjunction with news from the Safety Committee and/or created by the Communications Committee.

Since the Plano Police often advises residents to “See something; say something” when it comes to items or issues that look or sound suspicious, block captains can provide a vital role throughout Kings Ridge to help ensure our community is as safe as possible.
