Within the past nine days, two separate one-car hit-and-runs have taken place in our neighborhood. Fortunately, no one was injured. Sadly, it reminds us all that poor driving can happen anywhere and anytime.
In the wee Sunday hours of August 26, a drunk driver (not from our neighborhood) was driving on two rims in various parts of Kings Ridge. He ultimately damaged a tree along the Round Springs mini greenbelt, damaged grass, knocked out a communications pedestal and two mailboxes on Grand Hollow before coming to rest on Lost Arbor Court. Neighbor eyewitnesses captured the moments and reported it to Plano Police who swarmed the scene and apprehended the driver who had attempted to flee on foot.
About 8:45 a.m. today (Labor Day), a black truck with temporary plates drove onto the sidewalk and part of the front lawn of a home on Round Springs just beyond the south pond. The vehicle, as reported by an eyewitness, knocked over a communications pedestal and damaged bushes and other vegetation. The Plano Police are investigating this latest incident that involved a vehicle operating above the posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour.
Even though the posted speed limit is only 30 miles per hour in our neighborhood, please drive carefully (particularly as a large number of contractors are placing underground fiber in parts of the neighborhood creating some tight roads), and be extra cautious when riding bikes or walking.
