Two-time platinum level City of Plano BEST Neighborhood Kings Ridge Homeowners Association, www.kingsridgehoa.net, will partner with the City of Plano, Plano Police and Plano Fire Oct. 1 to shine a light on crime prevention and community engagement during the neighborhood’s 21st annual National Night Out parade and community-wide celebration.
The event takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and includes a 6:35 p.m. parade involving law enforcement personnel and vehicles and the Hebron High School drum line followed by VIP remarks at 7 p.m.
The parade and neighborhood park celebration with music, bounce houses and face painters annually attracts about 400 people, the largest HOA-sponsored NNO event of its kind in North Texas. This is the 41st year that National Night Out has been celebrated nationally.
Special guests: Senior officials from the City of Plano, Plano Police and Plano Fire departments, Plano Fire Station 13 crew and fire engine, and the Hebron High School drum line.
Kings Ridge HOA safety chair Paul Nolte said the neighborhood serves as a role model for other communities to work year round to reduce the likelihood of crime.
The Kings Ridge HOA works with its neighborhood block captains throughout the year to encourage neighbors to speak up when they see something unusual.
“Kings Ridge neighbors take an active role in preventing crime before it happens,” said Nolte. “We follow and share the crime prevention recommendations from Plano Police and encourage all 579 homes in our neighborhood to be proactive in their efforts to blunt criminal activity.”
Kings Ridge uses formal and informal communication channels in the neighborhood that help neighbors to be on-the-ground eyes and ears that look out for one another. The focus on safety takes place year round and is magnified on National Night Out as hundreds of neighbors invest time to interact with one another and first responders on a school night.
Tuesday, Oct. 1 Agenda:
- 6:35 p.m. – 6913 Crystal Falls – Neighbor and pet parade with decorated entries and dogs on leashes begins on Crystal Falls (short parade route travels north on Kings Manor and right on Cannon Falls to HOA greenbelt park) including a Plano Fire engine, Plano Police and the Hebron High School drum line.
- 7 to 7:15 p.m. – 6917 Traceland – Remarks about safety and community engagement by City of Plano, Plano Police and Plano Fire officials in a greenbelt park.
- 6:30 to 9 p.m. – NNO celebration with free pizza and tacos, DJ, music, face painting, bounce houses, prizes for best decorated parade entries. Outdoor, overhead lighting is added to illuminate the greenbelt, allowing attendees to interact past dark.
The nearest intersection to the Kings Ridge NNO celebration is Spring Creek Parkway and Kings Manor located one-half mile south of highway 121, one-half mile west of Toyota’s North American headquarters and one-half mile east of the Grandscape development.
During the celebration, prizes will be presented for various National Night Out parade entries such as best decorated, funniest, most creative, most elaborate and best costumed pet.

The National Association of Town Watch (NATW), http://natw.org/, hosts the annual event nationally and uses National Night Out to bring neighbors and crime fighters together. Celebrating its 41st year, National Night Out involves more than 38 million people and more than 17,000 communities in the U.S., U.S. territories, Canada and military bases according to the NATW.
